We’ve got Matthew Burford and Shannon Poe interviewing Brett Kunkle of Maven Ministries. We talk about world-views and how Christian ideas can turn ideas on their head and give us a new way of seeing things.
This is the longest of our interviews. I’ll have to apologize for rambling too much, but I really clicked with Tim Barnett at the True Story Conference put on by Maven Ministries. Tim is from Canada and is a full time speaker for Stand to Reason, an apologetic ministry based out of California. We got to share similar stories of growing up in church, but not living as Christ-like as we should, and what it was like to be convicted about sin, and moving forward with our faith in a secular environment. We look forward to sharing more interviews with everyone.
Jonathan Morrow is the director of cultural engagement of Impact 360 in Georgia. Jonathan has been a long time friend of Tactical Faith, so we were anxious to interview him and help him promote his ministry. The focus of this organization is help equip young people before they go to college, and after they are in college.
We missed interviewing Brett Kunkle, founder and president of Maven Ministries, but turns out Erin Kunkle is a lot cooler. Erin Kunkle is Brett’s better half, and she has great things to say about being a parent, the appropriate use of discipline in the home, and what it was like to be a single mom. One of the best things about the interview was how she talked about the Church helping her out when she was a 16 year old mom, and what that meant to her and developed her as a person.
Here is the second interview that we did in Oxford, Mississippi at the Maven Conference, “True Story”. Cathryn Neracher is a former atheist and is also the founder of Evangetics ministry in Motor City. Coming from a legal background, she found Jesus thru both an existential crisis, as well as seeing the arguments and evidence for Christianity as being valid. The major focus of Cathryn is to marry the evangelical aspects of sharing the faith and also ministering to those hurting, without overusing apologetics. We can certainly relate to this aspect of Apologetics, and want to promote the idea of ministry in evangelism, alongside the use of apologetics.
When we set out to interview some of the people at MAVEN/Brett Kunkle’s conference “True Story”, we really didn’t realize how much fun it would be. In the past we’ve focused on event planning and live streaming these events. While 2019 will be a great time for partnerships with other ministries, we are doing what we can to produce content that is fun and relevant to the Church. As such Ryan Ries, co-founder of “The Whosoevers” is the perfect fit. If you have not heard Ryan’s testimony, or listened to him talk about the divine intervention that happened in his life while Jesus was saving him, then you are missing out. This guy has a passion for Jesus, and a willingness to bear the cross of Jesus. Listed above is our interview with him. The conference took place in Oxford, Mississippi and was a great group of speaker put on by Maven. Maven is a ministry that Brett Kunkle has started and is focused on equipping a younger generation on defending the faith with grace and truth. We’ll have more to say about all this, as well as other interviews from a few of the speakers at the conference. In the meantime I hope you’ll enjoy this interview, and we look forward to hearing from you guys.
