“How much larger your life would be if your self could become smaller in it; if you could really look at other men with common curiosity and pleasure; if you could see them walking as they are in their sunny sefishness and their virile indifference! You would begin to be interested in them, because they are not interested in you. You would break out of this tiny and tawdry theatre in which your own little plot is always played, and you would find yourself under a freer sky, in a street full of splendid strangers.”– G.K. Chesterton
Matt Burford interviews Craig Keener about spiritual hermeneutics and what does it mean to have wisdom from an Old Testament perspective.
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
Things are not nearly as dark for us as they were for Frodo and Gandalf. We can honestly say it is a wonderful time to be a Christian in Alabama! As ambassadors of Christ we live in a free society that allows us the opportunities to worship without fear of government intrusion. Even with a secular culture permeating the core of our Christian culture, we are still blessed to be in a country that allows us to learn and promote our worldview in the marketplace. How long will this freedom last? I have no clue and this is not the time or place to initiate that type of conversation. However, I want us to take advantage of our present circumstance here in the deep South. We have an unprecedented amount of resources at our disposal to learn about everything and anything in relation to our Christian faith. Even now, I am looking at my bookshelves that are bowing under the pressure of all the books I have collected and used over the years. I wonder with so many educational riches, if will we be held to a higher standard when we finally see Jesus? What will be our excuse when we must account for our own spiritual formation and evangelism to others that are not Christian? Are we equipping ourselves to take on the intellectual challenges of today’s age? Here at Tactical Faith we are embarking on a new era of action. We have a renewed sense of urgency about us and we want to be there for our brothers and sisters in Christ! We want to be a para-church organization that helps the Church educate its members. We want to be a reminder to the church that intellectual growth must be worked out along with spiritual and character formation. Since 2011 we have striven to bring the very best resources to our state and in many cases we were successful in implementing our mission. Now at Tactical Faith we want to do that and so much more. 2019 will be a fun year for us. We have so many great resources that we want to share with you! Please prayerfully think about coming along side with us as we work towards equipping the saints.

ReThink Alabama – Briarwood Presbyterian Church, PCA
I have spent a greater part of this decade working towards a singular vision. I want people in Alabama to understand their significance in God’s coming kingdom. Paul states that God entrusted him (and in a sense all Christians) with the gospel message. God chose us to be heralds of the gospel truth that Jesus sits presently on his throne as King of all kings and Lord of all lords. Apologetics, or the defense of the faith, is just the realization of this truth. We are all called to give this hope in a way and manner that does justice to the character of God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Tactical Faith stands ready to help prepare saints with the right thoughts and reasons for engaging the broken world. We were so happy to see our vision playing out at Briarwood Presbyterian April 21st and 22nd. Jay Shaw and Jonathan Woods, both employees of Briarwood, had a vision a few years ago where they would bring an apologetically themed youth conference. With the help of Stand to Reason, a California based apologetic ministry, Briarwood organized one of the most successful youth apologetic conferences in the South. Tactical Faith was honored to play a role as a sponsor and stand alongside Briarwood. We hope and pray that our state continues to amaze and we give God all the glory for it.
“The field prepared by our Lord is still open for work and workers. Please pray and think about giving to our ministry for 2017. We continue to equip the good people of Alabama with qualified training. Please partner with us as we share what G.K. Chesterton said was the gigantic secret of the Christian…the happiness found in only Jesus Christ.”
